MB-Lab is a character creation tool for Blender 2.80, based off ManuelBastioniLAB.

  • This rig controls various expressions of a MB-Lab character by using the controls shown above. To add the rig, just click on the Add Face Rig button for your finalized character. To delete the rig, you need to select your finalized character first, then click the Delete Face Rig button.
  • This is a completely new skin shader, using more procedural elements than previous versions, eliminating a lot of texture maps for simple rendering functions (Specular, SSS, Roughness etc).
  • MB-Lab – Blender addon that creates humanoid characters MB-Lab is a project aimed to create a scientific and powerful 3D humanoid editor, based on the popular ManuelBastioniLAB. This software is based on the long experience gained during the realization of various 3d graphics projects, and collected python scripts, new algorithms, original.

All characters in MB-Lab are rigged using the same core skeleton structure, in order to have a stable standard and to easily share poses and animations. The core skeleton is designed to be clean and to match most of motion capture files and game engines. The root is located on the floor, and the detailed rigging for toes is merged in one bone. This repository is intended to spur development of character assets specifically geared to work well with MB-Lab. The original MHC MC vs MB-Lab assets.zip file contains a Blender v2.80beta blend file created with MB-Lab v1.70 with an average human female body asset, and MakeHumanCommunity (MHC) MakeClothes (MC) assets for body, dress, hair, skirt, and tights.

MB-Lab was forked from ManuelBastioniLAB in November of 2018, shortly after Manuel Bastioni ceased development of his addon.As it is open source, it was placed on GitHub with an invite to others to help develop and support this amazing tool.What began as a test to see if things could be changed here or there has turned into a global project with several sub forks of it’s own.

MB-Lab is the continuation of ManuelBastioniLAB, evolved for the next generation of Blender.
